DuckToller
Hi all, very soon I'll bring a system of mine to my oldest friend's 60s birthday. It contains 2 Subwoofer XTZ 10.17 (30-160hz) 700w, my two active Airpulse A80, the SMSL D6 DAC with dual outputs (both hot) on RCA and 6.5 TRS for balanced. As I want to use the TRS to the subs, which have a high pass and onboard PEQ, my idea was to send the analog signal of the D6 RCA outputs to my WIIM pro, using parametriq eq setting for the output with a low (shelf) pass in order to deprive the small active bookshelfs from their activity below 100, 120 or 150 hz. Not sure which might be best ? I would feed the analog signal into the analog input of the A80s. Definitely loosing some signal quality, but gaining the use of parametric eq for that signal to run the 4.5" woofers in more relaxed way. That's my primary consideration. The environment is a party with 30-50 guests, thus I may think quality loss to 85-90db SNR may not be too critical.. Alternatively, I could send the high quality signal from the D6 to the A80 without low pass and push the 2nd signal through the WIIM, however I noticed a difference in VRMS: WIIM Input 1 VRMS, D6 balanced out 4 VRMS - or leave the WIIM PEQ completely out of the game. Hey community: Happy to receive your considerations, ideas, opinions, advise, shoulder patting ;-) Tom Link to comment
botrytis
The Airplus have a sub output - RCA - could that be used for the subs? The only problem I see with this is the subs would be summed, so they would be mono. Current: Daphile on an AMD A10-9500 with 16 GB RAM DAC - TEAC UD-501 DAC Pre-amp - Rotel RC-1590 Amplification - Benchmark AHB2 amplifier Speakers - Revel M126Be with 2 REL 7/ti subwoofers Cables - Tara Labs RSC Reference and Blue Jean Cable Balanced Interconnects Link to comment
DuckToller
yes, but I would need to split the signal and the XTZs prefer XLR input This sub output is not supported by HP/LP thus it doesn't cut the low frequency for the A80 Link to comment
botrytis
I don't know the other equipment - I wish I could help more, my friend. The A80's are advertised to play down to 52hz or so. If possible maybe try a cutoff point for the A80's at like 70-80hz to give yourself as much music information as possible being handled by the main speakers but at the same time relieving them of most of the low bass duties. If volume output/distortion becomes a problem at the 70-80hz setting then move the cutoff point higher on the A80's until a suitable output is achieved with less distortion. botrytis and DuckToller 1 1 My Audio System -Last Updated May 20 2021 Link to comment

I missed to respond to you @cjf in order to express my gratitude. Thank you & sry. Finally, I went with some equipment tested to work with both WLAN for control, BT for transmission, but without speaker sets. However, my friend's tenant, an engineer and musician, offered his PA system Maui 11 G2 for the party - fed by the SMSL D6 balanced DAC, it was just a perfect solution for the inner circle of friends dancing until 3 O'clock in the morning. ;-) I used fb2k on a laptop, controlled by Chrome desktop via tablet. botrytis 1 Link to comment
