ted_b
Yes, a good mix, nothing spectacular..but better than many classic rock Atmos tries. It's also a nice clean presentation, even though some on QQ are calling it muffled. ?? I don't hear that. "We're all bozos on this bus"....F.T. sphinxsix
My humble contribution to this thread. The Rolling Stones will release a new live greatest hits called GRRR Live!, in February next year. This release features 24 tracks recorded on the road in as part of the band’s 50 & Counting Tour from a decade ago. Specifically, this album is taken from the 15 December 2012 show at Newark, New Jersey’s Prudential Center. It features guest appearances by The Black Keys (‘Who Do You Love?’), Gary Clark Jr & John Mayer (‘Going Down’), Lady Gaga (Gimme Shelter), Mick Taylor (‘Midnight Rambler’) and Bruce Springsteen (‘Tumbling Dice’). This show was aired at the time as a pay-per-view ‘event’ but the concert has been re-edited and the audio has been remixed for this release. There are four physical formats: 3LP vinyl, 2CD+blu-ray, 2CD+DVD and 2CD. The blu-ray in the 2CD+blu-ray combo features a Dolby Atmos Mix. There’s no specific confirmation, but presumably the DVD features a 5.1 mix. Both Blu-ray and DVD feature three bonus songs from the 13 December show at the same venue: ‘Respectable’ (with John Mayer), ‘Around And Around’, and ‘Gimme Shelter’. Link to comment

ted_b
I love that Beck has, at least for this single (nice Atmos mix, not adventurous but very nice), gone back to his alt-folk-pyschedelic style and gotten away from the Colors/Hyperspace pop stuff that I (maybe) listened to two times. And Beck in surround is always a treat!! Both Guero and, of course, Sea Change, are top ten 5.1 go-tos. I'm not sure I've listed this here yet, but this mix, first on Apple Music, then on uncompressed TrueHD bluray, is amazing......and you get Beck in Atmos on track 4 (around his Mutations days). A top pick for Atmos re-release albums of 2022. The Computer Audiophile 1 "We're all bozos on this bus"....F.T. The Computer Audiophile
This is an album I would've given maybe 10 seconds to in a previous life. The Atmos version is really enjoyable. Thanks for the recommendation @ted_b Founder of Audiophile Style | My Audio Systems Link to comment
Popular Post ted_b
It's really quite amazing how immersive three-dimensional music recording (and/or mixing) gives us a completely different view of the music...and the mix plays a huge part of the enjoyment. I sooo got into John Williams Berlin concert...and, as much as I love his movie music, I would never have sat for 2 hours to listen. This time I couldn't get enough!! I tend to think that a few things are going on here: * the mixer can give an enormous amount of space to a track or instrument to let it resonate and decay in its own real estate, often times somewhere in that bubble that even surround mixes couldn't afford; net/net more room to breathe. This is even a benefit to the Kind of Blues type 50's and 60's remasters (Nina Simone, etc), or even some modern jazz stuff (Julian Lage, Bill Frisell) where the extra dimensions aren't used adventurously but instead just given more air to breathe. * hidden sounds, buried within a 2 channel or even 5.1 mix (again, room to breathe) are much easier to discern, often prompting things like "I've never heard THAT before, and I've heard this song a thousand times". * an element of whimsy on certain adventurous mixes, where sounds you'd previously imagined going vertical...ACTUALLY do in immersive music!! :) And, at least in my music room/world, all of this is heard, at best, 24/96 or less...and often even compressed! Go figure. (Note: this place, and two folks who know who they are.... are gonna cost me plenty to get past that 24/96 barrier!! :) ) The Computer Audiophile and Jud 2 "We're all bozos on this bus"....F.T. JoeWhip
Kind of Blue was recorded in three track. Not sure that still exists but it would be a natural for Atmos. Same with Take Five. Link to comment

jrobbins50
The Stravinsky is just explosive and really gives a sense of the hall space in Atmos — lossless TrueHD! And the WE Orchestra piece sucks one in as it envelopes. Really cool. Thanks, Chris. JCR The Computer Audiophile 1 Link to comment
