Priaptor
since I bought the "high res" Apple Beatles series, I listen to Abbey Road. The remastering was done extremely well especially that wonderful, "second side" tracks 9-16. I was more than impressed. Link to comment
bdiament
Jazz Composer's Orchestra playing Carla Bley and Paul Haine's "Escalator Over The Hill" A jazz opera? They call it a "chronotransduction". Vocal performances from Jack Bruce, Linda Ronstadt, Viva (if you are old enough). John McLaughlin on electric guitar. A host of jazz all-stars. The heat of summer always makes me listen to this one. I've loved it since '71. (Don't even know if it can still be found. I had it on vinyl and found the CD set years ago at Tower - remember Tower?). "It's again". driven -- by sound
The Best of Astrud Gilberto: 20th Century Masters Her lush yet, feather light voice is pure pleasure. It teases, it trails, off in the distance with a decay that is downright delightful. The next smooth, sweet & creamy Honey-Vanilla offering from Haagen-Dazs ought to be named 'Astrud' without a doubt! If you do not have this disc in your music library, it's a must have for Summer 2011 - highly recommended!!! driven | by sound - \"bats & audiophiles\"[br] Link to comment
philwright
http://www.classicalbumsundays.com/ Same idea, with friends, on a Sunday morning, on decent gear. ps apologies if it's already been mentioned on this thread, I haven't read through it all yet (but will, good idea - have just suggested it to my 19 year old son as something to do together) pps yes I know they use analogue - it is all about the music isn't it?
