No “waving” at all. Just very focused and technical engineering refinements!

[John and I spend many hours per week on the phone, and when he is immersed in work on a Sonore project it often takes him some time to debrief (it’s part of his brain process) before we get to discussing status of UpTone projects. There is also some overlapping tech to learn so it’s interesting to me. I’m sworn to secrecy, but I can assure that there is no voodoo or snake oil involved—just brilliantly inspired engineering based on decades of his experience in digital design. B|]

Funny he tells me all your secret projects:)

Hi Jesus

As a customer who had purchased ultrarendu then opticalRendu what are the advantages of deluxe version vs the opticalRendu run?  I’m on so2.9 with opticalRendu is it worth the move to the deluxe?  Have you done a comparison between the two subjectively can you hear a difference.  Objectively does it outperform it in noise, thermals, and etc?  I appreciate any insights and thankful for your support.

My VP emailed me after a weekend of listening and says the Deluxe is substantially better.
I have also been listening to it and I wish everyone could experience it.

We have various measurements but we are not going to share them.

Hello everyone, since I plan to upgrade to the OpticalRendu deluxe, I am also considering ordering the optical module deluxe. I now used the OpticalRendu in combination with the EtherRegen. Is the additional purchase of the optical module excessive or does it make sense?

I have a Signature Rendu SE Optical and a OMD; I have tried going from the SFP Port on the EtherRegen directly to the SR multiple times and I’ve always gone back the OMD. Could possibly have something to do with Isolation of the “B” Side of the ER although they are supposed to be equal.

I just found it more engaging.

Enjoy the OR Deluxe and OMD. Looking forward to the upgrade of my SR.

Cheers….Mike

Hello,

I live in Germany and I ordered 2x version 2.9 by express mailing.

That was two weeks ago and I still don't have my update, nor an tracking code.

But the money is gone and paid by PayPal.

I tried to email sonore, but no reaction. Now I'm trying it here.

I'm very happy with my Opticalrendu Ver. 1.0.1 after fixing the Setpin Capacitor error in the USB LT3045 circuitry. :-)

Cheers from Germany 🇩🇪

After three listening sessions with with my newly upgraded OpticalRendu Deluxe my initial impression is simply "Wow!". I I sold my initial OR when the new OR came out and I cant say I heard much of an improvement. There was an increase in stability running OS 2.9 however if there was an uptick in sound it may have gotten lost in other upgrades I did to my system at the time. I took Sonore up on their free upgrade offer and I couldn't be more impressed. What a fantastic company!!!

This is one of the more significant SQ upticks I have experienced in a long time. The words I wrote down last light were "illuminated, texture, details and speed" The whole sonic presentation is just better and its not subtle. The soundstage is wider and deeper. Details emerged from just about every track I play. The increase in texture is the one that kept grabbing me last night along with this sense that a brighter light was turned on inside the music itself (illuminated). I know how cliched these descriptions sound but I will finish with run dont walk to the new OpticalRendu  Deluxe. YMMV

EtherRegen powered by Farad LPS (Afterdark Geismann Clock)-> Cisco AOC fiber ->OpticalRendu Deluxe powered by Uptone Audio LPS -> Ghent silver plated, star quad USB (JSSG360)->Denafrips Hermes DDC -> i2S HDMI (Clocked by Terminator Dac via BNC)->Denafrips Terminator II Dac->Linear Tube Audio Preamplifier->Melody 845M Monoblocks -> Silversmith Fidelium Speaker Cables->Pure Audio Project Trio15 Coaxial Open Baffle Speakers->2X SVS 4000 Subwoofers->All connected to Synergistic Research Powercell SX conditioner

In those circumstances it was more a hardware/software update than an upgrade. I would call the Deluxe series an upgrade and because of that we wanted to offer it to as many people as possible. Internally we are calling this design a milestone and btw are already working on updating the ultraRendu hardware to Plus series to carry on the tradition of trickling up/down technology into our other products. Thanks for the feedback....enjoy it!

Hello everyone,  can someone please post a picture of the PCB of the opticalRendu Deluxe.

I currently own a Opticalrendu Ver. 1.0.1 and I would like to see the differences between the two.

I have highly modified my unit,  but it might still be interesting to upgrade.

My preference is not to get into discussions or to provide information for the purpose of modding our gear.

First off all let me tell you that the opticalRendu is very interesting design. That's why I bought it in the first place.

The software update from 2.8 to 2.9 was a huge improvement.  Especially in bass quality. I'm not here to offend anyone.

The nice thing about the opticalRendu is that you just have to a make a few changes, and then it outperforms a Lumin  U2 or a Rose 130.

I've tested both. I attend the  München  HighEnd every year as a manufacturer. I designed ultra high resolution ADC's and DAC's for  20 years for test & measurement industry and aerospace. So I know what I'm talking about.

You see when you are a designer like me and your hobby is getting the best sound and resolution out of audio, at some point you come to a point where there is nothing you can buy that achieves a better sound quality. So all you can do is buy a hidden pearl and modify it. And the opticalRendu is such a hidden pearl. Actually it's nothing else as if you bring out a new revision. I think nobody in this forum has the slightest idea of what this little device is capable of.

I share your passion, I understand that people mod our gear, and I’m even curious. I don't want this to turn into a lunch and learn for our competitors:) Seriously, I just don't agree that this is the place to discuss it. I’ll say this though…if you like the oR you can't imagine what your missing out on with a stock oR DX.

Let me say so much :

I have an early version of the Optivalrendu Ver. 1.0.1.

The only reason why my hardware mods work so good is because the designer made some great decisions during the development.

Just one example is using the Power Good Feedback function on most of the LT3045 LDOs.

And the OS works pretty good.

Hello

I would like to share the planned audio upgrade with you.

Suggestions, tips and suggestions for improvement are very welcome. 😊

To bring a little more peace to the sound, I intend to expand the existing audio PC (AIO) into a dual system with audio endpoint.(Squezelite)

The Audio PC with Daphile and LMS will continue to be used as a media server after a streamer has been put into operation.

So far I have included three streamers in the shortlist for this!

1. Sotm sms200 Neo

2. Sonore opticalRendu

3. Stack Audio Link II

To achieve galvanic isolation of the network, I considered two options.

1. Optical connection via fiber, which is only possible with the Optical Rendu.

2. Transmission via USB/WLAN adapter

According to one user, the sotm sms200 Neo with USB/WLAN adapter always played better than a non-optimized network! 😊

I would like to hear about your experiences.

Thank you in advance.

Kind regards

The answer depends on your budget, but also depending on your setup. I would go for; the opticalrendu deluxe optical module and etherregen combination.

Kii Three / Kii Control / Lush 3 / OpticalRendu deluxe-Farad super 3 / Etherregen / Roon Rock-Farad super 3
