There is also some overlapping tech to learn so it’s interesting to me. I’m sworn to secrecy, but I can assure that there is no voodoo or snake oil involved—just brilliantly inspired engineering based on decades of his experience in digital design. ] Funny he tells me all your secret projects:) Superdad 1 SONORE computer audio | opticalRendu | ultraRendu | microRendu | Signature Rendu SE | endPoint | opticalModule DX | Power Supplies | Link to comment

kurb1980
Hi Jesus As a customer who had purchased ultrarendu then opticalRendu what are the advantages of deluxe version vs the opticalRendu run? I’m on so2.9 with opticalRendu is it worth the move to the deluxe? Have you done a comparison between the two subjectively can you hear a difference. Objectively does it outperform it in noise, thermals, and etc? I appreciate any insights and thankful for your support. Link to comment

simonp
Hello everyone, since I plan to upgrade to the OpticalRendu deluxe, I am also considering ordering the optical module deluxe. I now used the OpticalRendu in combination with the EtherRegen. Is the additional purchase of the optical module excessive or does it make sense? BCRich
I have a Signature Rendu SE Optical and a OMD; I have tried going from the SFP Port on the EtherRegen directly to the SR multiple times and I’ve always gone back the OMD. Could possibly have something to do with Isolation of the “B” Side of the ER although they are supposed to be equal. I just found it more engaging. Enjoy the OR Deluxe and OMD. Looking forward to the upgrade of my SR. Cheers….Mike My System: https://audiophilestyle.com/profile/9256-bcrich/?tab=field_core_pfield_3 Link to comment
Xoverman
Hello, I live in Germany and I ordered 2x version 2.9 by express mailing. That was two weeks ago and I still don't have my update, nor an tracking code. But the money is gone and paid by PayPal. I tried to email sonore, but no reaction. Now I'm trying it here. I'm very happy with my Opticalrendu Ver. 1.0.1 after fixing the Setpin Capacitor error in the USB LT3045 circuitry. :-) Cheers from Germany 🇩🇪 Link to comment

sandston
After three listening sessions with with my newly upgraded OpticalRendu Deluxe my initial impression is simply "Wow!". I I sold my initial OR when the new OR came out and I cant say I heard much of an improvement. There was an increase in stability running OS 2.9 however if there was an uptick in sound it may have gotten lost in other upgrades I did to my system at the time. I took Sonore up on their free upgrade offer and I couldn't be more impressed. What a fantastic company!!! This is one of the more significant SQ upticks I have experienced in a long time. The words I wrote down last light were "illuminated, texture, details and speed" The whole sonic presentation is just better and its not subtle. The soundstage is wider and deeper. Details emerged from just about every track I play. The increase in texture is the one that kept grabbing me last night along with this sense that a brighter light was turned on inside the music itself (illuminated). I know how cliched these descriptions sound but I will finish with run dont walk to the new OpticalRendu Deluxe. vortecjr
In those circumstances it was more a hardware/software update than an upgrade. I would call the Deluxe series an upgrade and because of that we wanted to offer it to as many people as possible. Internally we are calling this design a milestone and btw are already working on updating the ultraRendu hardware to Plus series to carry on the tradition of trickling up/down technology into our other products. Thanks for the feedback....enjoy it! SONORE computer audio | opticalRendu | ultraRendu | microRendu | Signature Rendu SE | endPoint | opticalModule DX | Power Supplies | Link to comment
Popular Post simonp
A few months ago, I decided to sell my OpticalRendu. I had some budget and saw new candidates to succeed the OpticalRendu. Not that I was unhappy with the sound but I knew it could be even better. I have quite a bit of experience and, to my mind, the source (streamer) is certainly not yet fully developed and steps can still be made. Consider the Eversolo and Hifi Rose RS130 these were definitely on my list. I don't need a dac, it's in my active speakers so just a streamer will do. But what should I do with that huge screen on the hifi rose. When I listen to music, it's dark in my listening room. Controlling the streamer is done with your phone or tablet anyway, that big screen is really unnecessary for me and less is more. When I saw that the OpticalRendu deluxe was coming out, I decided to give it a try first. I started years ago with a squeezebox touch, a soundaware then the Microrendu Ultrarendu and OpticalRendu. In addition, I use an EtherRegen and Farad super 3 power supplies. My server runs on Roon Rock. The Kii three active system takes care of the final playback. A great system with great dynamic range and resolving power. And now the OpticalRendu Deluxe Listening; Listened briefly a few hours after the thing was connected and I did hear some change but quickly put everything on soft and let it play for 50 hours before drawing conclusions. Anyway, now several evenings of listening and therefore reason to write something about it here. My music taste is pretty broad but striking how I enjoyed 70s music. For example, the song Triad by CSNY (4 way street) the vocals sound much clearer and huge dynamics. I also noticed the dynamics with jazz, it seems like percussion has much more energy. Bach Kantaten im januar Sinfonia no1 sounds enormously spacious, it was the same before but now a bit more. But mostly more resolution and texture, touchingly beautiful! Some recordings possess some harshness in the voice, this may be due to the microphone used but I notice much less of that now 50 ways to leave your lover by Paul Simon really sounds a lot better. John Denver leaving on a jetplane sounds particularly nice the frequently used triangle sounds much more refined. Harry Connick a nightingale sang at berkeley square sounds great the depth is enormous and the resolution fantastic. These are just a few examples but in most pieces of music, you simply hear more detail, the spatiality is better (especially depth) and because of the improved resolution, more texture as well. I must not forget dynamics in particular either, and as I write this I also cannot imagine that a digital pass-through can improve only one aspect of sound. Everything has improved. All in all, a big step forward, well worthwhile and another moment to re-listen to your favourite songs and enjoy the extra musicality. The Sonore team has said nothing too much! A Milestone. rDin, vortecjr and Superdad 2 1 Kii Three / Kii Control / Lush 3 / OpticalRendu deluxe-Farad super 3 / Etherregen / Roon Rock-Farad super 3 Link to comment

Xoverman
First off all let me tell you that the opticalRendu is very interesting design. That's why I bought it in the first place. The software update from 2.8 to 2.9 was a huge improvement. Especially in bass quality. I'm not here to offend anyone. The nice thing about the opticalRendu is that you just have to a make a few changes, and then it outperforms a Lumin U2 or a Rose 130. I've tested both. I attend the München HighEnd every year as a manufacturer. I designed ultra high resolution ADC's and DAC's for 20 years for test & measurement industry and aerospace. So I know what I'm talking about. You see when you are a designer like me and your hobby is getting the best sound and resolution out of audio, at some point you come to a point where there is nothing you can buy that achieves a better sound quality. So all you can do is buy a hidden pearl and modify it. And the opticalRendu is such a hidden pearl. Actually it's nothing else as if you bring out a new revision. I think nobody in this forum has the slightest idea of what this little device is capable of. simonp 1 Link to comment

I don't want this to turn into a lunch and learn for our competitors:) Seriously, I just don't agree that this is the place to discuss it. I’ll say this though…if you like the oR you can't imagine what your missing out on with a stock oR DX. Xoverman
Let me say so much : I have an early version of the Optivalrendu Ver. 1.0.1. The only reason why my hardware mods work so good is because the designer made some great decisions during the development. Just one example is using the Power Good Feedback function on most of the LT3045 LDOs. And the OS works pretty good. Link to comment

fantasia
Hello I would like to share the planned audio upgrade with you. Suggestions, tips and suggestions for improvement are very welcome. 😊 To bring a little more peace to the sound, I intend to expand the existing audio PC (AIO) into a dual system with audio endpoint.(Squezelite) The Audio PC with Daphile and LMS will continue to be used as a media server after a streamer has been put into operation. So far I have included three streamers in the shortlist for this! 1. Sotm sms200 Neo 2. Sonore opticalRendu 3. Stack Audio Link II To achieve galvanic isolation of the network, I considered two options. 1. Optical connection via fiber, which is only possible with the Optical Rendu. 2. Transmission via USB/WLAN adapter According to one user, the sotm sms200 Neo with USB/WLAN adapter always played better than a non-optimized network! 😊 I would like to hear about your experiences. Thank you in advance. Kind regards Link to comment

simonp
The answer depends on your budget, but also depending on your setup. I would go for; the opticalrendu deluxe optical module and etherregen combination.
