Release of Sonic Orbiter Operating System v2.9 for the Rendu Series

Recommended Posts

Yesterday I stumbled again over something that I find strange.

I use a Singxer-SU6 as a client after the Opticalrendu. Singxer promotes on there webpage that the SU6 can send PCM 32bit over the I2S interface. But it tells the Opticalrendu / NAA and HQPlayer that it can only do 24Bits. Can anyone confirm that?

Almost all streamed music and files are available in maximum 24-bit format.  Where would you even find 32-bit files from?

TP-Link MR600 4G+ router > Uptone EtherREGEN reclocker > Sonore Signature Rendu Deluxe streamer > Gustard U18 DDC > Gustard X26 Pro DAC > Belles SA-100 power amp > Usher Dancer Be-20 speakers. AfterDark clocks x 2. Uptone JS-2 PSUs x 3.  PS Audio P3 & P12 regenerators.

Sorry if this has been covered before, but I did a search and couldn't find a solution to my problem.  My microRendu has stopped working after I upgraded to version 2.9.  Roon sees the microRendu in the devices menu but when I select the microRendu in Roon as the output device it attempts to play the file and then stops saying there are too many errors.  How can fix this this.

Can you update and do a restart. Maybe even restart a second time from power off.
Da a restart your Roon server as well.

I tried restarting numerous times and it makes no difference. Same with unplugging the power.  I've also restarted my router, DAC, and Roon server without success.  I've also switched out my usb cable and ethernet cables without success.

What / where is your Roon server ? Can you try to use a computer temporary as Roon server ? Or another computer. Maybe you have a NAS that can use Roon ?

Can you draw your network ?

Sounds as though you may have a corrupted SD card.  This has happened to me several times.  The unit remains online but it just won't play anything despite the usual troubleshooting and following the correct restart routine.  Send an email to Sonore. Jesus R has very graciously replaced SD cards when they go bad.

Hi All,
On installing the v2.9 sd card there was zero response from my MicroRendu (CPU Name: i.MX6DL, rev 1.3) at power on - no ethernet port led flashing, nothing.
I reinstalled my v2.8 card, (works fine) and contacted SGC, who promptly emailed me a copy of the SO v2.9 image, allowing me to burn a copy to an sd locally using Balena Etcher.
I wrote the image to a brand new 32GB Samsung Evo plus UHS-1 card, however the microRendu failed per previously - no ethernet port led activity at all. Ditto with a Sandisk card.
Reinstalled v2.8 and all is well.
I purchased my microRendu directly from Sonore in 2016, so it's definitely an older unit - but as stated, it runs fine on v2.8.
I'm wondering if  anyone here has had a similar experience and might be able to point me in the right direction.
Cheers

This is more likely than not due to an incompatibility of the operating system with the SOM.

Thanks Jesus, I suspected this might be the case, however no CPU version limitation is listed when purchasing the 2.9 SD card for the microRendu, so I wondered if there may be another cause...

My CPU Name: i.MX6DL, rev 1.3works fine with 2.9.

Thanks for the data point, esmit - so, perhaps something other than CPU version as a cause.
I had also considered whether the v2.9 image I received may have been at issue - e.g. revisions within the version.

My 2.9 version for both ultrarendu and microrendu lasted a few months, then I had to reorder both  because the SD-cards failed. Using baleno etcher I made a backup, just to be sure, and I ordered industrial sd cards just in case and I use those for the last 5 months. This week I restored the copy for my microrendu as it stopped working somehow. If I were you I would just burn a copy again, this time it might work.

Not sure why it would corrupt, 2.5 and 2.8 were quite OK.
