Popular Post MartinT
A quick update on day 7 (168 hours). I'm starting to hear that step-change that comes towards the end of burn-in where a new level of performance is revealed. As well as a very clean, transparent but still musical presentation, the sheer dynamics are now reaching above anything I have previously experienced. Also the space in the music is improved, helping to bring insight into what's going on - less busy sounding, if you like. Harshness is well down, the lowest since I moved from Spotify to Qobuz some four years ago, making almost all music sound enjoyable. The bass remains incredibly tight, textured and tuneful. Would that all upgrades could bring this level of improvement for £1,300. I really wasn't expecting this much so it's all bonus for me. Day 10 with some 240 hours on the SRDL. Smaller changes now, the performance is quite relaxed with a wonderful large soundstage. Dynamic transients have real clout, and deep bass is impressive but never overwhelming. The system can punch and scale quite dramatically when demanded. Most importantly (for me) the all-important voice range is gorgeous, communicative and highly resolving, really showing off the Usher's inverse beryllium dome midrange driver. I have never been so happy listening to all my old favourites and some new material. Last.fm says I've listened to 2,500 different artists so I'm widening my range all the time. Popular Post MartinT
Sorry, that was an older photo. Here's one from yesterday. At top-left is one aerial of the TP-Link 4G router, below it is the ER, 1st AfterDark clock and 1st JS-2 power supply. On the main system rack is the Signature Rendu Deluxe, Gustard U18 DDC and Gustard X26 Pro DAC and 2nd AfterDark clock. Below that, the P3 regenerator (for all the signal level components) and 2nd JS-2 power supply. Bottom shelf is the P12 regenerator (for the power amp) and Belles SA-100 power amp. The speakers are Usher Dancer Be-20 (pre-diamond, with the nicer beryllium tweeter) and behind them are the SPEC RSP-901EX Real Sound Processors. They sit on custom Townshend Podiums.
